Take Action

Unlocked Doors Productions was created to document and record critical firsthand accounts of those affected and institutionalized by Canada’s juvenile justice system. We produce Canadian content film and media that brings awareness to the impacts institutionalization has upon vulnerable youth and chronicles its long-term effects within our society at large. Our focus is on the human experience. Our goal is to highlight and help to implement changes to a system that has remained virtually unchanged for over a hundred years. Unlocked Doors is a grassroots initiative supported by pure will and determination. Along with our non-profit partners and through charitable donations from people like you, the history of at-risk and homeless children is finally being confronted. Take action and get involved today!

"This was a really eye opening book! I loved reading about where I live, places I've been, people I know including my father (In this book known as Chunk I believe) and my grandmother!! I believe with so many of Erika's views, and her story was heartbreaking yet so inspiring!! The ending I loved, I was so glad to find that happy endings do exist."

Shaughnessy on Goodreads

"Honest and shocking account of what goes on behind locked doors in Canada's juvenile system. Erika offers a heartfelt and poignant account of her experiences as a wayward youth trapped between a rigid and ineffective system and an intolerable home life. A truant student running from the education system she gets constantly pulled into yet another system, this time beside murderers and other sketchy characters."
